Subject: RE: Community support for Joy Kogawa Heritage House/Cultural Centre

Dear Anton,

Thank you for taking the time to write to me regarding the Kogawa home.  Please accept my apologies for the delay in responding.

The Kogawa home is of great historical value in both Japanese and Canadian cultures.  For this reason and many others, I  support the efforts of the Joy Kogawa Homestead Organizing Committee in it's commitment to preserving this site as a heritage and cultural centre.

I am hopeful that the Vancouver Heritage Foundation will see the historical and cultural value of this site, and believe that they will assist in every way possible to have this site declared a heritage site.  I, too, will do everything I can to assist in this endeavour.

Could you please give me an update as to your progress.

Together, we can preserve the Joy Kogawa Homestead.  Together, we can preserve our history; and together, we can create our future.

Sincerely,

Ellen Woodsworth
